Bob and the Missing Harp, By Makaila Odoom
My name is Bob, and I am a giant. I’ve been living peacefully in the skies for ages, with my giant family. We have no cares in the world, and everyday is the same. Sometimes it can get boring, but living a simple life with no interruptions or changes is better than living a hectic life where you’re busy all the time. In my house, my family has everything we need. We’re rich, we have food, supplies, clothes and games.
I thought it would stay this way forever, until today. You see, I was washing the dishes in the kitchen, and listening to my daughter practice songs on our beautiful golden harp. She finished practicing a few minutes later, and I still had a few dishes left. Suddenly, I heard a thump. I turned around and our family’s golden harp was gone! How could anyone have gotten to it? Our house was way up in the sky, and no one visits without letting us know first.
I was infuriated. I ran out to the garden, where my wife was picking weeds and I told her what happened.
“Oh no!” She said, “That was my grandmother’s harp! Honey, you must go get it back!”
I grunted in determination. I would find that harp.
The next morning, I went out the front door, which I never go out of, because it leads to a 10,000 foot drop. But I was suspicious.
My suspicions were confirmed when I opened the door. There was a beanstalk leading down to the tiny town below. Someone found the magic beans that lead up to my family’s house.
I was infuriated even more, and I promised to myself that I would find the person who took the golden harp, no matter what it took.
