Nine Guinea Pig Sounds, By Makaila Odoom
Nine Guinea Pig Sounds
Guinea Pigs are pets that love to "talk" to people. They make a lot of sounds that may be confusing to you. It is important to know what their sounds mean.
1. Wheeking
Wheeking is a noise that guinea pigs make when they are excited, or waiting for something to happen.
Rumbling happens when male guinea pigs are mating. Sometimes after they make this sound it is accompanied by a weird mating dance.
3. Purring
If a guinea pig purrs they could be content or they could be stressed out or annoyed. A gentle purr and a relaxed guinea pig is good, but if it is the opposite, find out what is bothering them.
4. Hissing
If a guinea pig hisses this means they are aggravated and want to be left alone.
5. Teeth Chattering
Teeth chattering is like hissing, it is a sign of aggression. If they do this, that means they are fed up and you should leave them alone.
6. Shrieking or Screaming
This is a noise that means your guinea pig is scared or injured, they do not make this noise often. If you hear this noise from your guinea pig, examine them right away.
7. Whining
Whining happens when guinea pigs feel annoyed or don't want to do something that they usually enjoy. They may also do this when they are sick. Make sure that they are okay if you hear this noise, and you might want to call your vet.
8. Chirping
No one exactly knows why guinea pigs chirp. They don't look sad or happy while doing it. Some people say it looks like they are in a trance while chirping.
9. Chutting
Guinea pigs like to make a chutting noise when they are happy or content in their home or surroundings. It is a sign that they are very relaxed.
